Before Empire, sequel films tended to be inferior re-treads of the original with the same plot and cast. Empire redefined the sequel and started the trend towards “universe” films. It’s also regarded as one, if not the best, sequels of all time. We have a look at the marketing for the film including the torrent of toys and merchandise and a very clever article in Starburst Magazine which revealed the plot, and no-one seemed to notice!
