Taglines: “In search of a killer, he finds someone who’s either the love of his life or the end of it.” 

A superb film-noir police procedural with brilliant comedy chemistry between Pacino and Goodman and erotic chemistry between Pacino and Barkin. The city of New York is almost a character as it serves as a backdrop to the lonely lives of the stars. Sea of Love paved the way for the Femme Fatale films of the 1990s such as Basic Instinct. 

We look at the brilliant posters and consider how the film benefited from the return of Pacino after a 4 -year absence. We also consider whether the name of the film should have been different. Would adopting the literal translation of the French title have worked better?
